Calibration
The Calibration page controls the AutoFocus and AutoCalibrate methods.
- AutoFocus Gain (1) - This controls the amount of gain used by the AutoFocus at start method. This occurs when AutoFocus At Start is turned on. Gains greater then 1 can cause overshoots when the AutoFocus routines are first started.
- Auto Focus At Start option (2) - When this is on the first move after the start button is pressed will correct more of the incorrect focus. This helps the system get into focus faster at the start of the night but does not affect the Lock.
- Steps Per Autocal (3) - This sets the number of steps the focuser moves per AutoCalibration step. You want this to be around 15 microns for most systems. Make it larger if it only changes the Absolute Roundness by less then 3 and make it smaller if the roundness changes by more then 7. A change in Absolute Average Roundness per AutoCal Step of about 5 is ideal.
- Rest Time (4) - During auto calibration Rest Time determines the number of frames FocusLock will wait after each auto calibration step. This value should be greater than the Averaging Constant from the FocusLock Tab.
You only need to Save if you intend to use the Auto Calibrate function. See the section on Calibration for details.
- Backlash Compensation (5) This tells FocusLock to pre-solve for and compensate for any mechanical backlash in the Focuser. This is not needed for most setups and defaults off.
